Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Description
Throughout the month of October every year, Monroe STOPe participates in the National Domestic Violence Awareness campaign for the purpose of community awareness and education. There are many activities this October.
In Her Shoes: An Experiential Learning Activity
- What: Experience the challenges faced by survivors of domestic violence and learn how to help.
- When: Free and open to the public.
Wear Purple Day: October 24, 2024 (Purple Thursday)
- What: Wear purple to raise awareness for domestic violence survivors.
- How to Participate: Post a photo using #PurpleThursday and #MonroeSTOPe or send it to Monroe STOPe (423-519-1232, advocatemonroe@gmail.com).
- Prize: Chance to win a Ya Rona gift card!
Shining a Light on Domestic Violence
- What: Purple lights at the Monroe County Justice Center and Courthouse honor silent victims.
Purple Ribbons
- What: Purple ribbons around the Madisonville Courthouse raise awareness for local DV resources.

Paint the Town Purple: #PutTheNailInIt
- What: Paint a fingernail purple to show support for ending domestic violence.
